AMARA – CODENAME: AMETHYST
Amara is a former eco-terrorist turned Phoenix Program hero whose body can transform into any mineral, ore, gem, or stone. Once a saboteur targeting megacorp mining operations around Los Angeles, she’s now (mostly) on SDN’s payroll, but her moral compass still points more to workers than to shareholders.
Quick Profile
Age: 32
Height: 1,78 m
Powers: Full-body mineral transmutation
Former Occupation: Mine technician/union organizer/wanted saboteur
Birthplace: Bakersfield, CA
Crimes: Industrial sabotage, aggravated property damage, trespassing, hacking safety systems, assault on corporate security
Amara grew up in a mining family on the outskirts of LA County, in a tiny company town built around a VandCo-adjacent extraction site. Her father was a miner, union agitator, and the only loving person in her life.
When a preventable gas buildup caused a catastrophic underground explosion, killing her father in the process, the official report blamed “worker negligence.” Amara knows better: she was there, a junior technician strapped into a loader when the shaft went white.
The blast should’ve killed her. Instead, the pressure and minerals fused into her bones. When rescuers dug her out days later, they found a girl with purple-veined skin and shards of raw amethyst growing out of her arms like armor plates.
She spent the next few years as a masked saboteur, hitting corporate sites across LA; collapsing empty test shafts, turning executive cars into solid quartz, sabotaging all she could around big corps.
Eventually, SDN and the Phoenix Program tagged her as “potential asset”: too powerful to leave unchecked, too principled to be written off as random villainy.
After a long standoff and some aggressive “recruitment” from Blonde Blazer’s people, Amara agreed to be part of the Phoenix Program.
Personality
Grounded, blunt: She calls everyone “worker,” “boss,” or “scab” depending on how much she likes them.
Anti-corporate gremlin: openly hates corporate PR, calls VandCo “VandCult,” and side-eyes SDN branding meetings.
Secretly soft: gets soft spoken around kids, brings snacks to the team during long shifts
Workaholic tank: prefers physically dangerous missions
Sample barks:
1. “Corporate negligence? Again? Aigh, gimme five minutes.”
2. “If something collapses, it wasn’t me. Probably.”
3. “Handled. Can I go punch a CEO now?”
Powers & Abilities
Core Power – Mineral Morph
Amara can transform any part of her body into specific minerals, ores, or gemstones: diamond fists, obsidian blades, granite skin, etc. She controls density, hardness, and shape, but the more exotic or pure the material, the more energy it costs and the shorter she can sustain it.
She also has a tactile sense of the ground: feeling stress fractures, vibrations, and cavities like a living seismograph.
Bedrock Resolve
When Amethyst gets injured on a call, she gains +2 Vigor and +1 Combat, but her Mobility is −1 until she rests. This effect stacks up to 2 times.
Load-Bearing Legend (Optional Hero Training skill)
On 3+ slot calls, if Amethyst is assigned, she creates a temporary extra slot that only tankier heroes can use (Punch Up, Golem), and all heroes on that call receive −25% rest time if successful.
Miner’s Instinct (Optional Hero Training Skill)
Amethyst identifies hidden hazards, revealing one status on the call (Example: the call requires 8 strength)
Heroes sent to this call with her get −15% completion time.

CAMILLE – CODENAME: CHIMERA
Camille is an androgynous former government asset whose metabolic shapeshifting lets her convert calories into objects – or turn her own body into weapons, tools, or full disguises. She’s shy, secretive, and visibly more comfortable talking about food than about herself.
Quick Profile
Age: 28
Height: 1,70 m
Powers: Caloric transmutation, partial/total shapeshift into objects, temporary object creation
Former Occupation: “Special Agent” in a very redacted branch of the Japanese government
Birthplace: Yokohama, Japan
Crimes / Secrets: Almost all of her classified missions are blacked out in her SDN file; Phoenix paperwork lists “unauthorized use of powers abroad” and “incidents involving foreign property damage.”

Authorial art.

Camille spent her early twenties doing classified work as a living lockpick, contraband generator, and infiltration specialist. She turned into luggage, weapons, surveillance equipment – whatever the mission called for. The more she ate, the more complex and durable the objects became.
Eventually, one mission crossed a line. SDN’s Torrance branch got a rushed phone call from “a foreign partner” asking if their Phoenix Program could take a transfer: a tired, skinny agent who didn’t want to be a government weapon anymore.
Now Camille works for SDN in Los Angeles, officially as a Phoenix program hero, unofficially as a walking loophole in multiple international treaties.
Personality
Camille is soft-spoken and reserved:
Shy and hyper-polite: bows slightly on calls, apologizes to traffic cones if she bumps them.
Food-motivated: lights up when anything edible is involved; knows every late-night spot within the delivery radius of the Torrance office.
Secretive: deflects questions about her past with vague bureaucratic phrases: “I am not at liberty to disclose that mission detail.”
Dry sense of humor: occasionally drops absolutely savage one-liners in a calm voice, then goes back to nibbling fries.
Perfectionist: hates sloppy work; if a transformation looks “off,” she’ll redo it until it’s flawless.
People earn her trust by feeding her well and not pressing her for classified details.
Sample barks:
1. “Classified, sorry. But this ramen? Ten out of ten.”
2. “I can be anything you need. Preferably something near a bakery.”
3. “Light on my feet. Heavy on my snacks.”
Powers & Abilities
Core Power – Caloric Transmutation
Camille can convert the energy from food directly into matter and form:
Full-Body Object: She can transform her entire body into an inanimate object (a chair, suitcase, vending machine, barricade, etc.). She remains conscious and can revert at will.
Partial Transformation: She can turn limbs or sections of her body into tools/weapons (blades, shields, grappling hooks, etc.).
External Object Creation: she can “expel” an object made of metabolized calories – weapons, gadgets, barriers, these last a few hours before dissolving into harmless, inert fat-like goo.
1. Comfort Food
When paired with a hero who recently failed a mission, Chimera provides emotional + literal nourishment.
That hero starts their next call with +1 Charisma and −10s rest after the call.
Satiated Reflexes (Optional Hero Training Skill)
If Chimera completes a call without injuries, she gains +1 Mobility for her next assignment (disappears after one use).
Pocket Toolkit (Optional Hero Training Skill)
If the mission involves intellect-based skills, Chimera uses her adaptable body and grants:
+2 Intellect to the entire team
If the mission fails, the entire team is downed.
